Just back from a weekend away in the area and happened upon this lovely cafe in the centre of Dedham. What a gem! Dog friendly, which is so important to us, with a constant flow of customers through both doors. A hotch-potch of different tables and a lovely friendly welcome from the waiting staff. We plumped for the Coronation Chicken and Ham sandwiches washed down with some lovely strong tea - perfect! The cakes looked amazing but we were full!less

Had a lovely afternoon/cream tea today at The Essex Rose Tea room in Dedham. Service from the staff and food were both excellent.less

We were recommended as A child friendly tea room and with 2 adults with 3 children under 3, I soon felt rather anxious while one of our children tried to get himself comfy on the bench seat, which was fitted with loose cushions, when the waitress lent over us and firmly said “ No don’t do that, get down!” Very hostile behaviour considering we had only just arrived ! She then returned to tell us that she used to be a Primary School Teacher, by which time we were feeling very on edge and rather nervous for the children to attempt their frothy hot chocolates ???? The venue itself is beautiful and quaint. Very in-keeping with the very charming village of Dedham .less

I should have noted previous reviews before going here for a quick breakfast. I think the sausages had been cooked before and reheated, the mushrooms seemed like they were from a tin - but I was assured they were fresh and cooked in a pan with water. Either way they were horrible. The place did seem grubby as other reviews have suggested. Tiptree need to up their game here!less
Went here today, have been before and has been ok in the past but today, prawn sandwich, barely any sauce, hadn’t even bothered to butter the stale dry bread. The prawns were so dry they just fell out. Literally ate a few of the tasteless prawns and left the rest. Waste of £10. No one came to ask if it was ok, paid and left. Awful coffee aswell they clearly don’t know what a flat white is or it’s just a machine that pumps out the same coffee regardless. Expected more from the Tiptree brand.less
